Primal Mind: Reconnecting With Life Force and Recovering the Wisdom of Becoming Human

Primal Mind: Reconnecting With Life Force and Recovering the Wisdom of Becoming Human

The mainstream cultural story is that thinking will save us. Yet, we know we cannot reason our way in or out of many aspects of a human life. For instance, we cannot reason our way into being present, falling in love, or finding fulfillment. The type of attention and understanding that unites us with others is not thinking but an embodied presence. And the types of problems that we see when we turn to the world, are problems of community and relating. To solve problems of community, we need an embodied response. Our culture, however, struggles in this area.

All the past cultures in the world had embodied responses to problems. Our culture does not. Somewhere along the way, we lost it. We need to face that challenge. In this two-hour workshop, Kevin Johnson will offer a response to that challenge.

Felt Sense Body Cards Workshop

In this two-hour workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about and use felt sense body cards in your Focusing practice.

Felt sense body cards (body cards for short) are a way of capturing our Focusing experiences—whether a whole session, or we can use multiple body cards to capture sections of a session. This can be how the felt sense was at the beginning, and then how the felt sense was after the felt shift. Or we can capture different parts of our personality with a body card.

This is a group workshop delivered on zoom. You will have the opportunity to experience two guided Focusing exercise, and also have a Focusing exchange in groups of three in breakout rooms.

Fees: sliding scale pricing up to $29 US

The Urgency of Widening Our Lens of Inclusivity

How do we see our role(s) as agents of change in therapy, community, and wider systems? Do we have a role in change beyond our therapeutic work? Can the Philosophy of the Implicit and Focusing-Oriented Therapy widen our lens and practice of inclusivity, diversity, and equity? If we are interaction with everything, are we not ethically responsible to reflect on how we can be more inclusive of all living beings and systems?
