Focusing Process Group: World of Crises (6 weeks)

Topic Specific Group: World of Crises. Space to explore the various crises in the world right now, e.g. wars, inequality, climate change, with Focusing.

In their report From Polycrisis to Metacrisis: A Short Introduction, Rufus Pollock and Rosie Bell clearly articulate the differences between the polycrisis and the metacrisis. In short, they argue that while a:

“polycrisis names an entanglement of interconnected crises that affect one another - ecological, political, cultural, technological. Metacrisis, by contrast, denotes foundational conditions that generate these crises. Just as symptoms signal an underlying illness, polycrisis points to metacrisis. While the reality of a global polycrisis is increasingly acknowledged, awareness of metacrisis is less common.”

This Focusing Process Group will create space to be with these crises… both at the polycrisis and the metacrisis level. As Pollock and Bell share, one of the causes is the view that humans are separate to nature, and “it” is simply an external resource, rather than that we all belong to the web of life, that includes humans, and that this web is interconnected. We will create space to explore the felt sense of whatever crisis you are holding.

The World of Crises group will have up to 16 participants, and will be led by Coordinator Annette Dubreuil and PUPA Trainee Niamh Harnett. Join us for six weeks on Tuesdays, July 28 to September 1, from 2:30-4:30 pm Eastern.
