Maya Liebermann
PUPA Focusing Trainee Maya Liebermann is a somatic practitioner weaving together creative writing, voice, expressive movement, spirituality, energy work (Reiki), and craniosacral therapy. Rooted in the profound link between body boundaries and empowerment, they provide an intentionally safe, inclusive space for everyone—warmly welcoming woman-identified, queer folx, and BIPOC—to unblock self-compassion and connect with inner wisdom.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by the quiet landscapes we carry inside ourselves. My path into navigating these spaces began through a rich tapestry of creative writing, voice, and expressive movement. These healing expressive modalities beautifully interwove with my spirituality and professional practice of energy work, including Reiki, as well as craniosacral therapy. But it wasn’t until I found Focusing that all of these separate threads completely came together.
To me, Focusing is a rare and beautiful sanctuary. When I am the focuser, leaning into the safe warmth of a trusted Focusing listener companion's presence, I experience a space that is completely safe and supportive, allowing me to step softly into the direction my inner world decides to go.
Through this work, I have learned what it truly means to feel safe inside my own body, allowing me to fully connect with physical sensations, honor my body’s boundaries, and find a safe home for my expression. It is through knowing our boundaries that we are truly empowered to connect.
By feeling secure within my own self knowledge in body, mind, and heart, I have learned that we can find the self-alignment and grounded being needed to hold space for our own process. This allows us to safely open our hearts and minds to the world.
Yet, we never alone in that space. What I deeply love about Focusing is the unique presence of the listener. Your Focusing listener is right there with you, carefully paying attention, reflecting back your experience like a clear mirror, and providing gentle direction precisely when it is needed and wanted. It is an active, collaborative support that allows you to feel deeply held rather than left to drift by yourself.
Focusing has taught me to slow down and honor the full range of human emotions, from the heaviest shadows to the lightest joys. It has taught me to look for the way our inner world expresses itself not just through physical sensations, but through vivid imagery, the exact nuance of words, and shifting impulses for gesture and movement.
Most of all, Focusing practice has shown me how to unblock a deep, unconditional self-compassion, teaching me to gently turn toward and connect with all the different parts of my experience.
This deep listening has supported me in better understanding the directions I need to take. It has empowered me to make decisions for the things that truly matter and step into authentic leadership in my own life, including my relationships, as well as professionally and creatively.
As a PUPA trainee practitioner, my offering to you is simple. I bring an attentive, active listening heart and a warm space in which you can safely explore your depth at your own pace.
I am deeply committed to providing an unconditionally safe, affirming, and celebratory space for everyone, and warmly welcoming woman-identified, queer folx, and BIPOC.
Because safety and the ability to concentrate and be present, looks different for everyone, I both experience and offer a deep sense of presence and comfort through sessions that are entirely auditory (without the use of the Zoom camera), as well as visual sessions with the camera on.
Together, we will invite a balance of your emotions, your movements, your voice, and your imagery to unfold. I am here to support you in safely meeting the many different parts of who you are. I will support you to engage in a process of unblocking a natural compassion for yourself, while connecting with your own inner wisdom.
We will journey together as you find clear inner-direction, cultivate grounded, compassionate self-alignment, and embrace authentic leadership in any area of your life.
Maya is located in the Eastern Time Zone (ET) with flexible availability for 1:1 Focusing sessions, offering comforting sessions both with the Zoom camera on or through auditory-only space.
