Join us this August for a discussion group to support you in reading A Process Model (APM), Eugene T. Gendlin’s major work about his Philosophy of the Implicit. This discussion group is organized to cover key concepts from the book in an embodied way, over the course of four weeks.
Each session will focus on a discussion of the readings for that day, including unpacking key concepts. We will re-read certain passages and pause to freshly experience their meaning for us.
We will collectively draw out connections between APM concepts and Focusing, to deepen your understanding of the philosophy behind this beloved embodiment and partnership practice.
We will also cover how to do the homework reading with your felt sense, to get an embodied feel for the work as you read in between sessions. The idea is to really embody the reading for yourself, in order to deeply sense into it.
This discussion group is ideal for people who have:
never read the book, and would like to get through it for the first time with a supportive group
been studying the book for years, and would like to take it all in again freshly, in a short span of time
an interest in deepening their understanding of how APM informs Focusing
Note: A Process Model is widely known to be a difficult book to read. It is therefore often read in small groups, and this process is often slow. The upside of that route is that it allows for really feeling into the text together. The downside is it can take years to read the book this way. What can then happen is we forget what we’ve read and experienced before, and it can be difficult to take it all in, and make the connections to how the concepts are building upon each other. The purpose of this discussion group is not to understand all of the meaning in this masterpiece, but to get a beginning, an overview. To fully take it in, one must read and felt sense it multiple times.
Next Groups and Teachers:
Monday-Friday (daily on weekdays), August 10-September 4, 1-2 pm Eastern (see your local time) with Coordinator and PUPA Founder Annette Dubreuil and co-led by PUPA Trainee Jane Cecilia

Course location: Zoom
