Niamh Harnett

PUPA Focusing Trainee Niamh Harnett is a BACP therapist in training.

I came to Focusing at a time when I was looking for a more body-centered and grounded way to relate to my inner life and parts, as well as those of others.

I've noticed that over time, Focusing has brought me into a more intimate relationship with my own lived, experiential existence. It has helped me trust my inner process, not by forcing insight, but by allowing meaning to emerge in its own time.

There is something both inherently rebellious and deeply necessary about this, in world a where we're often forced into disembodied modes of being through technological and other societal demands. This shift from trying to “figure things out” to listening inwardly has been transformative for me.

I’m currently training as a Certified Focusing Practitioner. Alongside this, I’m a BACP therapist in training and hold Level 1 certification in Internal Family Systems (IFS). My approach is also informed by Buddhist philosophy and contemplative practice, particularly around presence, compassion, and staying with experience as it unfolds.

I’m interested in how Focusing can support resilience and steadiness in times of personal and collective uncertainty and crisis. In our sessions, I aim to offer a respectful, compassionate and attentive space where you can gently turn towards your felt sense and discover what is emerging from within, whether you want to explore something specific or simply deepen your capacity to listen inwardly.

I would be honored to accompany you in that exploration.
